Oakworth Methodist Church

Fish club is a joint effort by Christians in Oakworth to reach out to children who may not otherwise have the opportunity of learning about God.

Christians from Christ Church Parish Church staff the club, and Oakworth Methodist Church provides free use of the premises.

Oakworth Primary School is very supportive and allows invitations to be sent out through classes, and we sometimes even have taster sessions in school time.

Fish club is aimed at children from school years 3 and 4, but some of our Y5 insist on staying on!

Leaders meet the children in the school hall at the end of the day on a Tuesday, then bring them across the road to the church.

We have games and quizzes and puzzles, we make craft items,  we have drinks and biscuits, but we also have a time of hearing Bible stories, and worshipping God through songs and prayers.

We try to present a time of fun, a relationship with Christians (to prove we are normal people, well - nearly!) and a chance to hear about, ask questions and meet with God at the child’s own level.

Sometimes the club has just a few children, and attendance depends on school trips and football matches and dentist appointments (!) but this term we have 17 children registered so please pray for them - and the leaders of course.
